Is this the age of the shallow pool?

Sarah Palin should be a footnote of the bullet dodged by our country. And absolutely NOTHING MORE. Why our country celebrates this level of sheer, unadulterated stupidity will always be a mystery that needs immediate solving.

We are living in the age of the shallow pool. The deep end of the ocean offers too many thoughts and ideas to be contemplated in an Internet minute; too many consequences for our actions and reactive explanations; too many responsibilities to be endured if our decisions aren’t made swiftly enough;  just too many demands being made of our new, far more limited intelligence and greatly expanding capacity for fear.

We assume the shallow pool offers us safety and a quick release from the scum and vermin who wallow there,  forgetting that that scum, filled with bacteria and mold, will take hold of everything we are, spreading its disease, grime, and dirt until we are simply too compromised to be anything more than an extension of the shallow pool itself.

I do not wallow in pools. I am far braver than that.  I’d rather drown in the deep end with my intelligence, bold ideas, and courage intact.

An honorable death.
